A CONTINUOUS HISTORY OF INSPIRED LIFE AND LEARNING THROUGH PLACE
Historic Preservation
The Arapaho Ranch Field Station Project team needed help developing foundational assets to support grant funding applications for their project, including videography/photography, a refreshed brand, and a multi-year marketing plan. As the team applied for grant funding, they’d use these assets to inform grant readers of their plans to transform the Arapaho Ranch Field Station—which includes preserving and renovating the historic ranch headquarters to create an education and retreat center for the Arapaho Tribe, a community center, and an asset for attracting visitors to the ranch.

CHALLENGE
West Edge was on a mission to help the Arapaho Ranch Field Station elevate their brand to the next level in order for the project to look more professional and be taken more seriously by funding possibilities through grants and donations. A website was a must, as the client needed a place to showcase the importance of the project, and what it meant to the heritage of cattle ranching and Native American culture. It was an accessible place where the client could update interested parties on the progress of the project and plans for the future.
APPROACH
On-site, high quality photography and drone footage was captured of the location to highlight the beauty of the location. A mood board was created to help gather some inspiration for the brand.
mood board
Important Native American symbols such as the Medicine Wheel and the Arapaho Flag were used at the start. Inspiration for typography was also taken from the logo they were currently using, as well as a logo that was present on some old historic paperwork found at the Arapaho Ranch (can be seen in video below). Some of the colors and graphics used were inspired by the ranch side of the brand, such as old bones, horses, and the beautiful landscapes.
IMPACT
Arapaho Ranch Field Station has been able to win several grants for funding and receive donations from other interested parties. The project has been able to continue its mission to renovate and preserve much of the historic mansion and other historic buildings at the location, showcasing the heritage of cattle ranching and Native American culture in its unique western setting. They have also gained the ability to provide educational opportunities like workshops and become a recreational venue for the community and tourists.
